The graphic adventures of the ’80s and ’90s filled our days with joy. Today I want to talk about a game that was as kind-hearted as it was entertaining—an adventure that unquestionably ranks among the greatest of all time. And, like other classics, I’ll return to it on future occasions, because there are so many unforgettable moments that brought us (and still bring us) endless fun.

This game really needs no introduction: just one image is enough to make us smile and immediately think of Day of the Tentacle!

In this screenshot and short YouTube clip, I want to highlight the hilarious moment when Dr. Fred powers his time machine using a diamond and three portable toilets. Yes, three portable toilets doubling as time-travel devices! Of course, something goes wrong, and the three protagonists are scattered across different eras—one in the past, one in the present, and one in the future.

From there, countless clever and hilarious puzzles intertwine, creating one of the most ingenious adventure games ever made. Still, I can’t help but smile every time I see Bernard and Laverne panicking inside their time machines, while Hoagie rides his like a surfboard!

Years may go by, but this adventure is the kind you should replay at least once every decade—because it’s simply timeless.
