Rituals of Synchronization

Summer moves on.

Relentless and mute, as it always does.

The heat comes down from the sky blurring the horizon and we move with it, in the dark of a room lit only by the cold glow of the monitor.

We said the machines would start the imports before July finished bleeding on the calendar. And that is exactly what is happening. We run the first tests in the silence. The gears turn and everything seems to run smooth. For now, at least. In this world you know things work only until they break again.

The data finally finds its true direction. It flows toward its destination like dark water in a stone bed. The scripts to push the load onto WordPress do their work without a sound. They do what they were born to do and channel the records where they belong. Nothing more and nothing less.

Now there is a wasteland to cross. The interface to update. It is tedious work. Exhausting. It wears down your eyes and drains your spirit line after line, div after div. But it is work that must be done and no one else is coming to do it for us. A man just has to spit on the ground, put his head down, and hammer the keyboard.

And while the machines calculate and the sweat dries on your skin, a distorted guitar cuts through the shadow from the speakers. Nirvana. It is Smells Like Teen Spirit. It starts by pure chance, dragged out from the cosmic void of the algorithms. A decades-old rage splits the silence of the room, while the lines of code fall into place and the world outside keeps on burning.
