Today I want to present you a masterpiece released for the Mega Drive back in 1993. The development team, Gau Entertainment, created this video game and then disappeared… They launched a masterpiece on the market and for some reason did not continue creating new ones. The game in question is Ranger X! Controlling the Mech character, players must go through various levels, eliminating hordes of enemies before facing the final bosses. From the very beginning, the talented team designed a desert scenario with a large-scale battle, using the line scrolling technique to achieve pseudo-3D. While the Mega Drive usually relied on patterns and dithering for transparency effects, Ranger X made use of the shadow and highlight mode, creating more realistic lighting effects… we are talking about a team that was as ingenious as it was talented at the time. Just think that by using wireframe graphics in several missions (I believe at the beginning, if I remember correctly), the results were simply spectacular, and even during massive explosions the slowdowns were minimal. Enjoy the footage and let’s relive a masterpiece from 30 years ago!
